December 31, 2025, New Year's Eve

There are lots of people raring to go play in the snow. We are no exception but things are not looking good.

First, Kern County closed the gate at the bottom of the mountain this afternoon and they have not been very prompt this season on re-opening.

Second, based on current temperatures in the mountain communities, it is raining all the way to the top of the mountain. This will be washing away a lot of the current snow.

Finally, the weather forecast calls for mostly rain through Sunday.

On the bright side, next week the temperatures are supposed to be lower so we might start getting real snow after the first week in January.
